Music Video

Image
For our finished music video I am extremely proud of the end result. All the members worked extremely hard and it truly paid off. Our members were able to come together after long debates and hours of filming and editing to create something we all enjoy. Of course some of the things we planned out and detailed did not work out, but that is life. We made the most out of the covid situation and social distancing amongst our members. I believe my teammates are as pleased as I am with how this music video came out.          The general thought process and concepts that we came up with, were highlighted the way we wanted to by our facial expressions, the editing filter, and our movements. One of our main goals was to be relatable to many teens with the feeling of anxiousness, stress, loneliness, and being exhausted. As teens who are now experiencing things like the pandemic, fully online school, and being away from friends who we would see d...

CCR FOR MUSIC VIDEO

Image
     1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? nk    Our product challenges the conventions of teens being depressed for attention or that having depression is not normal. Each day we are faced with situations that we have to be bold enough to stand up and be accountable for but not all people are the same, each person has their own problems that they struggle with and their own life. The social dynamic that society has created makes everything seem like it has to be perfect and well constructed. The exhaustion of simply waking up and dealing with life is what our video is about. The pandemic has cause immense stress on everyone but in particular teens, like myself are not handling it well. With an overloaded work schedule, with multiple assignments due at the same time from different teachers, its a lot. It represents social issues because as a fellow teen, many students are struggling to catch...

Storyboard for Music Video Project

Image
T his music video takes up 17 boxes with 1 being a backup in case our member could not perform one of the scenes. We first planned what part of the song and what lyrics we wanted to use for this project. We chose 0:03-1:03 to have the guitar in for the beginning, and 1:03 seemed like a good spot to end it naturally. We labeled the boxes with corresponding numbers to make recording more efficient. Glenna’s scenes are highlighted in purple, mine (Nikaliyah’s) are highlighted in blue, and Perla's are highlighted in pink.     Boxes 1-4 These first four scenes will introduce our music video. In these scenes, we are wearily doing tasks we do every day. Glenna is surrounded by piles of work,  I am going through online school being exhausted, and Perla is eating her food with disinterest. Glenna playing her guitar is a transition between what happens in the day and then at the night.     Boxes 5-8 Continuing from the morning, the routine continues a...

Planning For Music Video Project

Image
Props: In our music video, the props we decided to use were everyday household items. this would work to our advantage best because we are all social distancing due to COVID -19. Items would b e cellphones, notebooks, plates, television, books and etc. These props go along with our storyline to make our music video as fluent as possible. Costumes: For our costumes we would be in everyday casual attire. We have three members in our group and will be filming in the comfort of our own homes. Each location for our video will be correlate with the scene but there will be nothing too formal. Schedule: Our plan is to break our schedule up in a width span of 5 weeks. On week 1, November 8-14, 2020: Is the initial stages of of our music video. This is the time where we choose our song, did our intro blogs, and researched different music videos and concepts. On week 2, November 15-21, 2020: This is when we focused more on our blogs than anything else. We all researched different concepts to...

Research Blog: Music Video Conventions

Image
For our Music Video, the genre we chose was K-Pop. K-Pop has been receiving attention in western media and we have recently taken an interest in it. The choreography and the intense training that goes into these diligent, crafted idols are interesting. Our music video and concept were to go after a more harrowing side of music in general. It does not just capture what different music genres envelope, but rather the thoughts of what humans, especially teens like us, go through.     Beginning on the research process, the conventions in our music video would be a story that follows teenagers suffering from burn-out, exhaustion, loneliness, and finding time for themselves to be at peace. Written codes would include affirmations saying "You can do this" and other sorts to further induce the urge of finding peace. Symbolic codes in this Music Video would be Mise en Scene, with the following;  - Costume: normal attire - Lighting: high and low key lighting - Acting: p...

Intro to the Music Video Project

Image
With a new project being assigned, we were allowed to choose partners and I was invited into a group with Perla Caceres and Glenna Mae Tomboc. I am eminently close with them from the previous year of high school in which we spent together. I have previous experience with Glenna from our criminal justice assignments and projects, and I have worked in groups involving Perla in our AICE Global Perspectives class that we share. I have never had a problem working with either of them and they always put their best foot forward. The first initiative we took in this project was making a group chat, in which we could communicate effectively and efficiently. Our first obstacle was choosing a song to base our project off. Based on our very unique personalities, or responses were in very different directions. There were many tedious debates about what song to choose, we constantly would send options. After we debated for a while about choosing the direction we wanted to go in, w...

Storyboard for my hand sanitizer commercial

Image
First scene- During this scene we will be filming the product hand sanitizers. Kids playing in an open field. Shooting the scenery and admiring the world around us. This scene will be out in the open and a wide angle shot. This location. Is my backyard, which is extremely convenient to me. I wanted to include the aspect of the outdoors and to replicate a school playground. Second scene- The next scene we will we shooting would be the teacher that works at school. She would come out to tell the kids that it is lunch time, whilst having a tray of snacks in her hand. She  place the snacks on the table and the children will begin to take their masks off.    Third scene- The teacher would then tell the children to use the hand sanitizer to keep their hands clean; proceeding with facts about it. The scene would be using ethos ( the credibility of a teacher, teaching her students a life skill of keeping their hands clean ).   Fourth scene- In this scene we would...

PLANNING for my hand sanitizer commercial.

Image
Props:   I am filming a commercial using the hand sanitizer specifically the brand (Assured). To pick this project I thought about the current condition that the entire world is currently facing. Masks and hand sanitizers are being used the most in these times, and hand sanitizer is needed more than ever to help prevent the spread of Covid. With Covid-19. being present I have obtained any bottles and thought this would be perfect for a commercial. Other props that would be used are masks, phones, and construction paper.  Costumes:  For costumes it would be an everyday casual wear. I am planning on having others, including my siblings to be in the commercial so it would be nonchalant attire. There is no specific attire for the  location of my home.  Schedule:  On Saturday, October 24,2020, I will proceed to create my story board and make the final touches available. Also on the same day, I plan on filming some of the essential shots for my project. Su...

Research blog: Commercial Conventions

Image
I am doing a commercial for hand sanitizers. Nowadays hand sanitizers aren’t used for a quick just in case or accessorizing anymore. All the commercials promote safety, social distancing and covid prevention tips. So, to get a general perspective of hand sanitizer commercials, I took a trip to the past. I scrolled all the way back to the year 2014 and further to watch their commercials. Back then they used the strategy of pathos to appeal to your emotions. They had people holding hands, having relationships of all kinds and gives you a sense of feeling safe, and telling you that while you have those connections, safety is also an important factor. That is very different from now, which entails of people walking away from each other, having as limited interaction with others as possible and using logos which is giving people statistics of Covid and telling people to use their common sense and hand sanitize their hands after touching surfaces and others. A similarity of both ...
