CCR FOR MUSIC VIDEO
1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?
nk Our product challenges the conventions of teens being depressed for attention or that having depression is not normal. Each day we are faced with situations that we have to be bold enough to stand up and be accountable for but not all people are the same, each person has their own problems that they struggle with and their own life. The social dynamic that society has created makes everything seem like it has to be perfect and well constructed. The exhaustion of simply waking up and dealing with life is what our video is about. The pandemic has cause immense stress on everyone but in particular teens, like myself are not handling it well. With an overloaded work schedule, with multiple assignments due at the same time from different teachers, its a lot. It represents social issues because as a fellow teen, many students are struggling to catch up on work and be productive in general. Our daily lives and how it is structured was absolutely destroyed by the pandemic. This video progressively shows us learning to get back into ourselves and finding time in the present, in the moment. We learn that we are more valuable than we give ourselves the credit and there is finally peace amongst the chaos.
M 2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?
O Our product engages with the audience of teenagers, mainly ones that are in school and overall people in our generation. This year has taken a lot from everyone and with this we have to keep the norms of society and take care of ourselves on top of that. Our project displays the realism of how a normal day to day life of a teenager is. Constantly stressed, growing up, doing daily tasks and finding ourselves. It is exhausting waking up and not wanting to be productive and I speak from personal experience. The people of this generation is enduring a lot and society is not the most accepting. This pandemic has caused chaos on a lot of people's mental health and life. This music video shows people that they are not alone and others are experiencing similar things as well. Our project would be distributed as a real media text through social media, including but not limited to YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Our video would be easily obtained by others because of a simple search and everyone is now connected by social media.
3. 3. How did your production skills develop throughout this project?
4. How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?
To integrate technologies, in our project, our group decided to use the app called Video Star for efficiency. All of our footage was shot on several different devices due to quarantine and social distancing, so using this app was to great convivence. For me Video Star was a challenge at first being that it was the first time I was used it, yet my groupmates taught me and we learned from each other. We used the different features that Video Star provided to edit and customize our video to our liking. We exported and merged many scene to each other via our group chat for the most effective results. For my part in this project I merged scenes 1-7 and made them look presentable. I continued to merge those scenes and send it to my team to finish up their contribution. There was a time where we experimented with all of the features but sadly, those did not fit the goal of our project. We stuck to a simplistic natural effect and I personally believe that was for the best.
